Advanced recycling of PP and PE plastics for the promotion of a sustainable circular economy

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project consists of the implementation of new technologies in a PP and PE plastics recycling plant, focused on processing complex plastic waste and materials that are difficult to recycle that currently end up in landfills. Using advanced separation, cleaning and dewatering technologies, we will be able to transform contaminated waste and “waste” into high-quality raw material. This initiative will make it possible to capture material from third parties that was previously considered non-recyclable, contributing to the reduction of waste and the circular economy.

The main objective of the project is the recycling of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) plastics, through mechanical treatment that allows PP and PE plastic waste to be treated, including those considered “waste”, which do not meet the technical requirements to be recycled using traditional methods. With the new expansion line, the capacity will reach 40,000 tonnes per year, and with the implementation of improved technologies and the procurement of third-party material, it is expected that more than 93% of the incoming material can be recycled and reused in the production of new plastic products, so the percentage of waste material is expected to be reduced to less than 5-7%, which is equivalent to a loss of 2,000-2,800 tons.
