Development of a technology for the recovery and reuse of thermoplastics in continuous fibre composites

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

This project focuses on the development of advanced technologies for the recycling and reprocessing of thermoplastic composite materials, optimizing their use in industrial sectors such as the automotive industry. Through four main lines (recovery of reactive thermoplastics, reprocessing of thermoplastic SMCs, recyclable sandwich structures, and recycling of thermoformed or pultruded materials), we seek to maximize the reuse of both our own and third-party materials, promoting the circular economy and reducing waste generation.

The objective of this project is the development of technologies for the recovery and reuse of thermoplastics in continuous fiber composites. The aim is to maximise the recyclability of composite materials and reduce dependence on virgin raw materials. The project will have three lines of action: 1) Recovery of reactive thermoplastic in continuous fibre composites; 2) Thermoplastic SMC reprocessing; 3) Reprocessing of 100% recyclable thermoplastic composite sandwich structures.
