The lower section of the Huerva River where the restoration project is part of the ESMSFP0910115 of the Huerva River from the Mezalocha dam to the mouth of the Ebro River, running within the city. With the urban development of the city, there have been hydromorphological alterations deteriorating its condition, it has an aged and small riverside structure as well as uncontrolled discharges in the urban section between the Blasco del Cacho and Emperador Augusto Bridges, causing a clear deterioration of the ecological state. As a consequence of all this, the Huerva River is a natural space that cannot be used and enjoyed by the population.
RE-PAPAH focuses on river restoration actions that will favour the natural processes of the river, as well as mitigation, adaptation and protection of flood risks, increasing biodiversity in urban environments and their conservation. The aim is to renaturalise the area of the Huerva River, which is currently very degraded, making this area an attractive environment for use and enjoyment by the population.
Some of the actions contemplated in this project are:
Landscape restitution (hydromorphological) and participation actions in the environment of the Huerva River (RE-PAPAH)
