The project is based on various pre-existing initiatives (Green Belt, PAESC) and includes the development of the ‘Green Infrastructure Master Plan of Mataró’, as a strategic roadmap for the renaturalization of the city. The Plan foresees actions to connect urban spaces (parks, green areas and linear trees) and periurban spaces (streams and Green Belt) to the agricultural and forestry areas, based on actions with a great capacity for transformation and impact. Work will be carried out in the city’s two main parks, in seven smaller green areas, but with greater territorial coverage due to their decentralized location, as well as in 29 schoolyards, reinforcing and improving the network of green and renaturalized spaces in the city. In addition, linear trees will be reinforced to guarantee their ecosystemic service and connective function.
