RECYCLE: Research into new formulations of composite resins with 100% recyclable fibres to improve circularity and the use of materials

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project focuses on laboratory research into new reinforced thermoplastic combinations for the manufacture of composite parts. The compositions will have the maximum % of bioplastics or compounds from natural sources. These raw materials will be designed to be used in innovative manufacturing processes, with the aim of producing parts that, after their useful life, are 100% recyclable.

Line of action:

Private sector

Status:

En ejecución

Location:

Mallabia, Vizcaya (Basque Country)

Execution date:

2024

Duration:

01/10/24 - 31/10/27

Total budget:

496.800 €

Amount of aid from the Biodiversity Foundation:

248.400 €

The objective of the project is the development at laboratory level of new polymer combinations with fillers or additives that may be partially from natural sources or bioplastics. The main objective is the design of advanced materials to be used both in conventional manufacturing processes and in new composite manufacturing processes, such as injection or 3D printing, providing parts with similar or improved properties and that, at the end of their useful life, are completely recyclable.
