Recycling of PET containers contaminated by used vegetable oil

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project aims to carry out an installation that allows the total recycling of contaminated containers from the used vegetable oil collection circuit, in the specific public containers for this waste. The result of this process will be the specific cleaning of the contaminated containers in order to be able to use 100% of the used vegetable oil deposited and retained on the walls of the container. At the same time, to obtain a PET plastic clean of oil residues that allows us to reintroduce it into the conventional plastic recycling channel.

The objective of the project is to implement a specific line for the treatment of contaminated containers from the used vegetable oil collection circuit (UCO) of the specific public containers for this waste after its emptying in the recycling plants, which are 90% PET material. The plastic will be left ready for supply to PET recycling companies.
