Research for obtaining PLA, on a laboratory scale, from whey

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project seeks to transform whey waste from the dairy industry into monomers to produce biopolymers with applications in high-value sectors, such as health. At the laboratory level, fermentation and polymerization processes will be optimized to create biocompatible and biodegradable materials. These biopolymers will be evaluated and adapted for 3D printing technologies, thus promoting waste reduction and the use of sustainable raw materials.
