PRTR Call for Proposals Project
The project consists of planning, expanding and improving the green infrastructure of Sant Boi and its connection with each other and with the Llobregat River, the agricultural park and the forest area, creating new connectors that link the natural path of the Green Belt to the urban areas. The drafting and deployment of the ‘Renaturalicemos Sant Boi Strategy’ aligns the project with the ‘Urban Agenda Action Plan’. Sant Boi aims to be a reference of a biodiverse, sustainable, resilient and healthy city, which understands green as an educating, creative and collective identity building element.

Sant Boi City CouncilSant Boi does not have a planning instrument that values green and blue infrastructure. Despite its location in the Llobregat Delta (an area that enhances biodiversity and ecosystem services), the pressures to which it is subjected (large infrastructures, population density in peripheral neighborhoods, complex urban structures to implement new green spaces) fragment this infrastructure. Some neighborhoods have insufficient natural and green spaces, such as Barri Centre (complex structure) or Marianao (concentrates 40% of the population). The areas to be targeted have been selected for their potential contribution to ecological connectivity and biodiversity enhancement, resilience potential and positive social impact. Some actions (new green spaces, recovery of existing parks, promotion of urban orchards and renaturalized schoolyards) have already attracted the interest of municipal groups. SANT BOI RESPIRA + VERDE will establish an urban green and blue infrastructure connected to each other and to the environment, which will increase biodiversity, improve environmental quality and the livability of public space in an equitable manner. It will also favor mitigation and adaptation to climate change and reinforce its role as the green lung of the Barcelona metropolitan area.
