Millions of individuals of different species are taken from their habitat each year for the illegal global wildlife trade. The rescue centers in the countries where these animals originate are the first and main shield to fight against wildlife trafficking. Rescue centers in the countries of origin are more effective in this fight. The MONA TYC project is designed to train young people in conservation and animal welfare, as well as to train workers who are already active in these wildlife recovery centres in Spain, giving them the opportunity to train in Europe to strengthen their knowledge and skills.

Some of the actions included in this project are:

• Prepare training content for the program.
• Hands-on Training. Programa de trabajo de 330 horas como cuidador/a de primates tutorizado por dos de nuestras co-responsables del departamento de Cuidadoras y Bienestar Animal.
• Theoretical Training. Programa de cursos monográficos que sumarán un total de 70 horas divididos por temáticas; cada uno de estos cursos tratará un aspecto clave para la formación del alumnado. Estos cursos serán presenciales u online en función de la temática y de las posibilidades técnicas y cualitativas del curso. Dentro de la modalidad online también existirá el formato asincrónico.
• Creation Mona Training Grant. Fundación Mona correrá con los gastos de formación de 2 personas al año provenientes de países de donde son originarios los primates. Estos gastos incluirán los billetes de avión, el alojamiento y la formación propiamente dicha.
• Creating a Training Classroom. Las instalaciones actuales están al 100% de su capacidad con las visitas escolares, las clases del máster y las visitas de social awareness. The project will need an adapted multifunctional classroom to be able to provide quality training.
• Participate in environmental education practices with schools. 50-hour work program as environmental educators tutored by the people responsible for the Education department.
