Zero waste in a production process of high-precision micrometric parts made of plastic and silicone

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project generates a controlled atmosphere room (SAC) to achieve zero waste in high-precision micrometric parts, through control of production conditions, introduction of waste reduction technologies and waste reuse. The interventions are:

  1. a) Civil works of SAC.
  2. b) Geothermal installation in SAC.
  3. c) Hot direct injection moulds (casting reduction).
  4. d) Technological equipment to reduce silicone consumption (precision pump).

e) Equipment for the reuse of plastic castings/rejects (hot mill).

The main objective of the project involves the implementation of technology in the manufacturing process of plastic parts to move towards zero waste, through the reduction and reuse of manufacturing waste (casting/rejecting/shrinkage) of plastic parts and reducing the waste of plastic production, since these remains constitute around 20% of the consumption of virgin raw materials in the production process in plastic parts and a 10% on silicone by the company Sistemas Especiales de Inyección S.L.
