The objective of this environmental education initiative is to transmit environmental knowledge and values that lead to the adoption of positive and participatory attitudes towards society and the environment.

Within the Local Agenda 21, the City Council of Calahorra has developed a comprehensive environmental education program that is in its third edition. The program is carried out within the framework of collaboration with the students of the Calagurris Employment Workshop, subsidized by the Riojan Employment Service of the Government of La Rioja and the European Social Fund.

The actions planned for the execution of “Ambientum III: get closer to the environment” involve the celebration of 265 activities, with the direct participation of at least 3,000 people.

Among the actions that will be carried out, the following should be highlighted:

• Preparation and dissemination of informative material on the biological diversity of the area, the sustainable use of natural resources and nature conservation.
• Raising public awareness with a view to setting up eco-tourism enterprises.
• Training of four unemployed people to work as environmental education and tourism monitors.
