The project is related to the three Environmental Educational Centers (CEMAs) benchmarks in environmental education and training in the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia, which become dissemination channels for the Natura 2000 Network spaces. According to the entity, the students, in addition to learning about the characteristics of the RN2000 spaces, take action by participating in a specific Environmental Volunteering program, innovative in the territory and demonstrative within the framework of future biodiversity conservation policies by the competent entities in the field. The fundamental pillars on which the project focuses is phytophenology, that is, it studies how meteorological variables are affecting the vegetative and reproductive phenological phases of various native evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs (germination, foliation, leaf drop, flowering, fruiting, dehiscence…). Through 9 days, the conservation and protection of unique, endemic, rare, threatened and/or endangered species, as well as their Natura 2000 habitats, is promoted.
The objective of the project is to promote the theoretical and practical application of the world’s largest ecological network, the European “Natura 2000” Network in the geographical environment of the project.
The specific objectives are as follows:
According to the entity, the “Net to Net” project is a dissemination network for the Natura 2000 conservation network, which has managed to mobilize more than 8,000 young people in 191 environmental volunteering sessions in 3 SCIs: Font Roja, Crevillente and Carrascoy, achieving the collection of phenological data from a total of 810 plant individuals. Conferences were also held on socio-economic activities compatible with the environment of the Natura 2000 Network, focusing on topics such as agriculture, hunting and sustainable tourism.
