This project aims to describe spatio-temporal patterns of Air Quality Control Networks in Spain.
This project aims to describe spatio-temporal patterns of Air Quality Control Networks in Spain.
Specific data and tools will be studied to delimit the affected areas and correlations will be established to make a possible analysis, which will lead to a proposal for improvement in management measures. To this end, the data on the dynamics of the ozone will be analyzed, which allow the air quality control networks, and correlations will be established between affected areas and cause-effect relationships, as well as the impact.
Based on the results achieved, proposals and recommendations will be developed for the improvement of the management and optimization of tropospheric ozone assessment and control tools. Tropospheric ozone (O3) is a powerful oxidant, which is one of the most problematic pollutants due to its impact on health and ecosystems in general.
The initiative seeks to involve air quality managers in Spain in the project and collaborate with them in identifying needs and improving their capacities. Among the activities of the project, a day will be held in which the results of the project will be presented.
This work is the first detailed and updated study of the situation due to ozone pollution in Spain, in which all the available data from the database of the air quality monitoring and control networks are addressed. It also provides a data analysis methodology that can be transferred to air quality managers, as it is applied entirely to the information and tools that are already at their disposal.
The project will be integrated into the future Air Plan, with the general objective of promoting public awareness and improving the information available on air quality data, by administrations and citizens.
Within this plan, the actions carried out in this project would correspond to the specific objective of Information and awareness in the field of Air Quality, with the HOR6 measure. I Information and awareness-raising activities in favour of improving air quality; to the specific objective Improvements in the management of air quality information, with the HOR1 measure. I Preparation of a repository for the exchange of information with network managers, and the specific objective of promoting and encouraging R+D+i to prevent and reduce air pollution, with the HOR11 measures. I Promotion of certain lines of R+D+i in the field of air quality and protection of the atmosphere.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- Study of data from air quality control networks of ozone dynamics, establishing correlations between affected areas, cause-effect relationships and impact.
- Analysis of trends and spatio-temporal patterns.
- Proposals and recommendations for a management plan and the optimization of tropospheric ozone assessment and control tools.
- Creation of a framework for collaboration with air quality managers in Spain.
- Dissemination of the results of the studies carried out so that they reach air quality managers.
