The Board of Trustees is the governing, representative and administrative body of the Fundación Biodiversidad. Under the Presidency of the Third Vice President of the Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, it has representatives from different institutions of the Spanish Government in the field of nature conservation.

Advisory Board
The Advisory Council is made up of 15 experts from various fields and sectors, related to the purposes and principles of action of the Fundación Biodiversidad. Its functions are to consult and advise, in order to enrich the Foundation's activity.
Alberto Fraguas
Biologist, specialized in Ecology, Zoology and Master in Environmental Management of Development, with more than 30 years of experience in environmental management and planning, defining and applying socio-environmental sustainability criteria in Development, based on the optimization of technical and legal tools, especially the "ex ante" evaluation of Projects and Plans and environmental monitoring of activities, determining degrees of compliance.
Alicia Torrego
Physicist. Manager of the Conama Foundation and general secretary of the Official College of Physicists of Spain. After a period in environmental consultancy, in 1998 she assumed executive responsibility for the organization of the National Environmental Congress and its associated network of companies, governments, third sector and universities linked to sustainable development in Spain.
Fernando Valladares
PhD. in Biological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. His research focuses on the ecology of natural systems affected or threatened by global change. He is currently a research professor at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and associate professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid.
Juan Luis Arsuaga
PhD. in Biological Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, where he is Professor of Paleontology. Co-director of the Atapuerca excavation group. He has received numerous distinctions and honors, being a member of several entities related to human evolution. With his excavation team, he received the Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research in 1997.
José Luis de Miguel
PhD. in Physical Sciences. Coordinator of Programs and Strategies at Fundación General CSIC and president of LES Spain-Portugal (Licensing Executives Society International Inc.). Previously he was deputy director general at Fundación General CSIC, assistant vice-president of CSIC Knowledge Transfer and advisor at the Internet Quality Agency (IQUA).
Carmen García
Bachelor and Master's degree in Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She participates in the management of different entities linked to the design and implementation of energy transition and sustainability. She works with local governments and companies to develop eco-sustainable policies, fight against Climate Change and promote the Energy Model Change at the municipal level.
Víctor Viñuales
Sociologist, co-founder and director of Ecología y Desarrollo. Associate Professor of the Higher Management Program in Corporate Responsibility at IE Business School since 2007. Member of the Panel of Experts in sustainability of Sol Meliá, member of the External Advisory Board of DKV, member of the Advisory Board of CREAS Fondo Social and member of the Social Council of INDITEX.
Xavier Pastor
Now retired, he was senior vice president and executive director of Oceana in Europe. He worked for more than 10 years at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography as a fisheries researcher. In 1984 he participated in the founding of Greenpeace in Spain, where he was executive director for more than 15 years.
Bárbara Pons
Architect by Harvard University and specialized in the design of public landscapes, green areas and sustainable regional planning. She has spent most of her career in various public administrations in executive positions. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and also works for the Emerging and Sustainable Cities initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Juan Luis Cano
He studied Journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid. He worked in publications such as "El Periódico", "Diario AS", "Radio Centro", "Suplemento Dominical de ABC" or "Interviú". Since 1982 he was 50% of the project "Gomaespuma". He has worked in several radio stations: Antena 3, Cadena SER, M-80 and Onda Cero. He presides the Gomaespuma Foundation, which works in children's education programs for children living in precarious social and family situations in Nicaragua and Sri Lanka.
Valentín Alfaya
PhD in Biology. Director of Quality and Environment at Grupo Ferrrovial. He began his professional career in the forestry sector and then moved on to the engineering and consultancy sector and, for nearly twenty years, to the construction, infrastructure and services sector.
Purificació Canals
Biologist. PhD in Biochemistry and Physiology from the University of Barcelona. Associate Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Since 2009 she is president of MedPAN, the Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Network. She was global vice-president of the IUCN and is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas.
Antonio Abril
General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Directors and Director of Regulatory Compliance of Inditex S.A. (Zara), and of the various companies that make up the Inditex Group. Vice-Chairman of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum (FMRE). Trustee-Secretary of the Amancio Ortega Gaona Foundation.
Luis Rivera
Degree in Engineering from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Caminos, Canales y Puertos in Madrid. MBA from INSEAD. Associate Professor of Electrotechnics and Electronic Systems at the School of Civil Engineering in Madrid, head of the IT Department at Eptisa, associate consultant at McKinsey & Company.
