Those chosen have been selected from a total of 529 proposals submitted.
65% of the amount of aid granted corresponds to initiatives aimed at the conservation of terrestrial biodiversity, a line of work in which 59 projects have been selected. Of particular note in this area are the conservation of endangered species, some as emblematic as the brown bear, the bearded vulture, the curlew, the duck or the ricotí’s lark, or endemic species unique to our country such as the fartet and the samaruc.
This call also supports initiatives aimed at promoting new tools for biodiversity conservation and carrying out actions in protected natural areas: several projects will test different land stewardship formulas and some LIFE Nature initiatives will be co-financed.
In the line of marine biodiversity , €600,000 has been allocated for the execution of 20 projects. The theme of the selected initiatives is varied, from the integration of new technologies in conservation or the creation of applications, to the fight against invasive alien species. In this area, projects for the conservation of endangered species or for the improvement of the legal status of protection of marine areas stand out.
With regard to initiatives related to climate change and environmental quality, there are 14 projects with a budget of €300,000. Those related to the prevention, reduction and control of pollution and the promotion of health through the improvement of air quality, more sustainable mobility and proper waste management stand out.
The resolution relating to this call for grants, including the list of projects already selected in the partial resolution, is made public on the website of the Biodiversity Foundation.
