The main objective of this project is the creation and consolidation of a media outlet that exclusively covers climate change and that serves as a training center for climate journalists in Spain.

Climática is a portal for news, research and analysis on climate change, its causes and its consequences. It is aimed at different audiences, using a language accessible to different ages and levels of training and knowledge of the subject. The origin of the project is the lamarea.com climate change supplement (a media outlet created in 2012) and is open to collaboration with different national and foreign media. In addition to all the informative materials, Climática promotes the creation of a critical and aware community through different activities and actions (cultural, educational...).

Climática is a media outlet specializing in climate change. All its articles, training content and activities aim to disseminate knowledge that allows for action. In this sense, articles on adaptation to climate change are prioritized. In the Uni Climatica, one of the activities developed, specific presentations on the subject are also included


The aim of the project is to launch and consolidate a media outlet that treats climate change as a global and multifaceted phenomenon. The aforementioned objective is broken down into other specific ones, being:

  • Establish climate change as a central element in the news agenda.
  • Generate interest in climate change in social groups normally unrelated to the phenomenon.
  • Promote training in climate change and journalistic specialization.

  9. Creation and maintenance of profiles on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram and Instagram (possible adaptation to other social networks as needed)
  10. Creation, maintenance and dynamization of discussion groups on social networks
  11. Organization of talks, courses, excursions and/or other informative events
  12. Organization of screenings of documentaries and films on climate change
  13. Organisation of training sessions on climate change
  14. Shipment of the products generated to the competent authorities in the matter

  • During the first 21 months of Climática's life, this media outlet has published more than 1,000 of its own articles, has organized the first edition of La Uni Climática -in which more than 50 specialists of different nationalities and subjects, and hundreds of students participated-, has promoted debates, online meetings and cultural activities of different kinds.
  • In addition, Climática has published an annual Magazine of more than 100 pages (in digital and paper format) in which journalists from different countries participate with very different approaches. The great acceptance it has had makes the media reconsider publishing more issues a year.
  • At the beginning of April 2021, Climática had a base of 1,390 people subscribed to this medium.
