Fertilization and water quality improvement using natural zeolites and other biosilicas (FERTIZEL)

This project pursues the objective of zero discharge from agriculture and irrigation processes in the Mar Menor basin through an alternative fertilization model using natural zeolites.
To this end, it will carry out demonstrative fertilization treatments on three different types of crops, covering 20 locations in two municipalities within the Campo de Cartagena territory, for nitrogen reduction.
Similarly, work will be carried out on treatments with zeolites that allow the replacement of desalination plants and filters with natural catalytic media that at the same time favor the de-autrophication of irrigation ponds.
